Many women still ignore the symptoms of a heart attack, according to the experts at Doylestown Hospital’s Woodall Chest Pain Center.
Doylestown Hospital launched the Hear Her Heart
campaign to increase awareness of women and heart
disease and to demonstrate its commitment to helping
women take the best possible care of their hearts.
“We want every woman to understand her risk for heart disease and to take steps to prevent it,” says Eleanor Wilson, RN, MSN, Vice President of Patient Services. “Know your numbers [BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose] and learn to recognize the signs of a heart attack.”
Signs of a heart attack in women may include: chest or shoulder pain; shortness of breath; nausea/vomiting; discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach; breaking out in a cold sweat; and lightheadedness.
