HealthGrades, the award-winning rating company that objectively grades the performance of hospitals nationwide, has released its 2008 report, and we are proud to announce that The Heart Institute of Doylestown Hospital was rated the BEST CARDIAC PROGRAM in Bucks County and in the top 10 in the state of Pennsylvania for overall Cardiac Care. This independent analysis validates what we have known all along – when it comes to heart care, Doylestown Hospital leads the way in Bucks and beyond.
Patients treated at The Heart Institute have access to a full spectrum of advanced cardiology services from state-of-the-art diagnostics such as cardiac CT, 3-D heart mapping and cardiac catheterization, to specialized surgical treatments for rhythm disturbances, valve disorders and cardiovascular disease.
Our 5-Star rating for treatment of heart attack is testament to the dedication and efficiency of our Cardiac Catheterization Lab team and their partners in the Emergency Department.
Every patient who enters Doylestown Hospital with a suspected heart attack in progress is immediately evaluated and, if necessary, prepped and moved to the Cath Lab for emergency angioplasty. The entire process takes an average of 74 minutes, 16 minutes less than the 90-minute threshold mandated by Medicare as a quality indicator. Our catheterization and surgical teams are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week: your assurance that 5-Star care is available to every patient who comes through our doors.
Doylestown Hospital is the only hospital in Bucks County rated as 5-Star for Coronary Interventional Procedures (angioplasty and stenting) and Valve Replacement Surgery. In addition, for the second year in a row, the hospital received a 5-Star rating for the medical management of congestive heart failure (CHF).
“When we opened our Heart Center in 2000, our goal was to offer the same high level of quality as the premier regional heart programs,” says President/CEO Rich Reif. “Now, seven years and thousands of procedures later, I can say without question that we have achieved that goal.”
