The Power of 3 Hours

That’s the window of opportunity in which tPA can reduce the effects of stroke after the onset of symptoms.

Stroke is a leading cause of disability, but its effects can be minimized if you get help right away. Learn the signs, then act quickly.

To harness the power of those three hours, do these two things:

  • Learn to recognize the warning signs of stroke
  • Get medical attention immediately
  • Is is a stroke? Think F.A.S.T.

Facial numbness or weakness – Ask person to smile
Arm weakness – Ask person to raise both arms
Speech disturbance – Ask person to speak a simple sentence
Time is of the essence; Call 911 and get to the hospital fast!
