Microdermabrasion: The Safe & Gentle Way

Who wants smoother, younger looking skin? When you consider the billions of dollars spent trying to achieve it, you might think the answer is everyone, especially those over the age of 40. And you might be right.

Starting this fall, The Spa at the Health and Wellness Center by Doylestown Hospital will be offering microdermabrasion* services to women interested in improving the appearance of their skin in a safe – as well as pampering – environment.

“Microdermabrasion is a noninvasive treatment that will allow you to walk out the door glowing,” explains Amber Connors, Spa director. “It is safe and produces real results, unlike most of the array of over-the-counter microdermabrasion creams and gadgets.”

The Spa’s microdermabrasion treatment delivers gentle, effective exfoliation (or shedding) of the top layer of skin, stimulating cell regeneration. It effectively treats skin with sun damage, acne scars, fine lines, age spots and other pigmented areas. During a treatment, a wandlike applicator is maneuvered across the skin, releasing a light suction and steady stream of fine crystals. “It doesn’t hurt. I have heard the sensation described as a cat licking your face,” says Ms. Connors, “and the results are terrific.”

*Microdermabrasion is safe for most skin types. It is not recommended for people with active cancer, herpes simplex, or Accutane® users.
