Feeling Dizzy?

You could have a balance disorder

If you get up in the morning, walk easily down the stairs, climb a step stool to reach a high cabinet and then carry a heavy carton out to your car, you probably take balance for granted. But if you are one of the millions of Americans who experience slight to severe symptoms of vertigo (dizziness and imbalance), the constant fear of falling can limit your activities and literally shrink your world.

Traditionally, balance disorders have been difficult to diagnose and treat because balance integrates three critical sensory systems: visual, vestibular (pertaining to the inner ear) and
musculoskeletal. This often means that patients are referred to multiple specialists yet receive only piecemeal solutions to their problem.

The new Balance by Design center, opening this fall at the Health & Wellness Center by Doylestown Hospital in Warrington, offers a totally unique and integrated approach to diagnosing and treating balance problems.

From initial evaluation and diagnosis through treatment, maintenance and follow-up, patients will not only learn
to improve their balance, they will experience a renewed quality of life.
