Quality is Timeless and, now, Transparent

The Improving Systems Initiative is a collaboration of hospital staff that works decrease errors, improve satisfaction, and save multiple lives

In the 4th century BC, Hippocrates set forth one of the guiding principles of modern medicine: first, do no harm. And 24 centuries later every healthcare provider still agrees: there is simply no way to separate medical quality from patient safety. At Doylestown Hospital, we have established a robust quality program that reaches into every unit and touches all aspects of patient care. This Improving Systems Initiative (ISI) is a remarkable collaboration among physicians, nurses, IT specialists and analysts, administrators, and other hospital staff. For the past five years, a series of increasingly complex clinical projects have allowed us to decrease medication errors, lower infection rates, improve patient and staff satisfaction and, ultimately, save multiple lives.

Doylestown Hospital believes that we have a responsibility to our community to provide the highest quality health care possible; we also believe that it is our responsibility to demonstrate that quality to the people we serve. So in May, 2006 we posted the first in a series of web-based Quality Reports designed to make our patient care systems open and transparent to those seeking services at Doylestown Hospital. When you log-on to www.dh.org, you can view and download reports similar to the sample “Universal Bed” report on this page. The Quality Reports debuted at the same time as a new communications campaign featuring our president, Rich Reif. Our goal is, as always, to inform, educate, and improve the quality of life for all members of our community.
