As health care providers, we understand that smoking and other forms of tobacco use pose a serious health threat to the individuals who use them, and to others who are exposed to them. Tobacco plays no part in a healing environment, and certainly does nothing to improve the quality of life in our community. Because Doylestown Hospital’s Board of Directors and Management Team feel strongly that we should discourage smoking and tobacco use in any form, Doylestown Hospital will become tobacco-free on February 14, 2007.
The prohibition extends to all patients, family members, visitors, employees, physicians, volunteers, EMS personnel and vendors. Smoking and the use of tobacco products will be prohibited on all Village Improvement Association (V.I.A.) property, including, but not limited to, Doylestown Hospital, the Health and Wellness Center in Warrington, Children’s Village, and vehicles owned by Doylestown Hospital. Smoking and other forms of tobacco use will not be permitted in any building or on any outside areas, including the parking lots. All seven acute care hospitals in Bucks County are working together to become totally tobacco-free in 2007.
