Teriyaki Turkey Burgers

Teriyaki turkey burgers are a nice change to the regular hamburger. This recipe can easily fit into a diabetic meal plan.

Using portabella mushrooms and egg whites and ground turkey breast, these burgers are only 250 calories a piece (burger, bun and cheese). Enjoy these turkey burgers at your next BBQ.

This recipe is diabetes friendly.

Yield: 6 servings

  • 1.25 lb. Extra Lean Ground Turkey Breast
  • 1/2 c. Baby portabello mushrooms, minced
  • 1/4 c. Red onion, chopped
  • 2 Egg whites
  • 1 Tbsp. Steak seasoning
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Teriyaki sauce
  • 6 slices, low fat cheddar cheese
  • 6 light, whole wheat hamburger buns
  • Preheat grill or skillet to medium high heat In a large bowl combine all ingredients until well combine, do not over mix.

    Form meat mixture into 6-4oz patties.

    Place patties on grill or skillet cook until light brown, about 8 minutes. Flip burger and cook additional 6-8 minutes.

    Place cheese and desired condiments on bun with burger. Enjoy!
