Healthy Hamburgers

Yes, it's all beef. This hamburger recipe is great for a barbecue. Use sautéed mushrooms and very lean beef for a tender, juicy burger that is low in saturated fat and low in calories.

Yield: 6 servings

  • 1/2 Cup portabella mushrooms, chopped
  • Cooking spray
  • 1 1/4 pound 95% fat free beef
  • 1/4 cup minced yellow onion
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 tbsp steak seasoning (sodium free)
  • 6 light whole wheat buns
  • First, spray a small nonstick skillet with cooking spray and sauté mushrooms until tender, drain if needed. Mix mushrooms with the remaining ingredients and form 6 hamburger patties. Grill for 25-30 minutes until internal temperature is approximately 160 degrees. Serve on light whole wheat buns with desired toppings.
