Low Fat Chocolate Cake Recipe

A dessert with the words "low fat" and "chocolate" together does exist. Try this chocolate cake recipe that is both low in fat and cholesterol.

Heart Healthy Recipe

Yield: 16 servings

Low Fat Chocolate Cake

  • 1-1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups unbleached flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup Canola Oil
  • 1/3 cup prune plum filling
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together sugar, flour, cocoa and baking soda. Slowly add egg, oil, prune plum filling, vanilla extract, water and milk. Mix until smooth. Pour into a 9x13x2-inch pan that has been sprayed with nonstick coating. Bake for 35-40 minutes.

    Variation: Cupcakes: Line muffin cups with paper baking liners. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes
