In addition to sleep apnea, the Sleep Disorders Center at Hunterdon Medical Center offers medical help for a variety of disruptive sleep patterns, including:

Periodic Limb Movements of Sleep
Periodic limb movement syndrome may coexist
with obstructive sleep apnea. Multiple thrashing
movements, typically of the legs, awaken those
with the disorder repeatedly through the night.
Restless Legs Syndrome
Restless legs syndrome is a neurological condition
involving sensations in the legs, and sometimes
arms, while the individual is awake. The sensations
usually occur when the individual is lying
down and the only relief is to move the limbs,
keeping the individual awake.
Narcolepsy
Narcolepsy is a genetic sleep disorder characterized
by excessive daytime sleepiness. Individuals
with narcolepsy fall asleep at inappropriate, and
occasionally, dangerous times.
Insomnia
While frequently due to anxiety or stress, insomnia
may occasionally reflect a sleep disorder. A
physician will determine whether testing for a
sleep disorder is necessary.
If you observe signs of a sleep disorder in yourself or your partner, call 908-788-6392 to schedule an overnight sleep study. We can evaluate, diagnose and begin treatment all in one 12- hour period.
