2005 Report

A remarkable year for Hunterdon Medical Center Foundation

-John L. McGuire, Chairman of the Board of Trustees

The year 2005 was a remarkable year for the Hunterdon Medical Center Foundation and the HMC Auxiliary. Assisting the Hunterdon Healthcare System in implementing its five-year strategic plan, we began work on building support for a range of clinical services, connecting community need with donor interest.

Throughout the year, the Foundation remained focused on its goal: to create donor giving groups and community champions for key services. These groups are not only passionate about clinical programs that have touched their lives, but are committed to spreading the word throughout the community. The Roznowski family's story on the last page of this report is a great example of what inspired individuals can do.

In addition, our special events have met with unprecedented success. I'd like to thank the leaders of those committees: Nancy Christie and Millie Welsh, Fashion Show; Jim Robinson, Hunterdon Golf Classic; Sky Van Ness and Karl Kroeschel, Culinary Affair; Jean Pepe, Joyce Snyder, Ralph Pritchard and Margaret Rogers, Lights of Love; and Sophie Shor, Crystal Ball. Results from our events exceeded $500,000, a testament to the commitment of our community to Hunterdon Healthcare.

As 2006 began, the Foundation saw a leadership change as Meredith Betz, Director of Development, was named Executive Vice President. Meredith was instrumental in raising more than $2 million for the Foundation in 2005. She succeeded John Demoleas, who left in February after accepting a position at a university hospital in New York. While we were sorry to see John leave, we wish him success and thank him for his forward-thinking leadership.

As our community continues to grow, so does its need for comprehensive healthcare. We expect the Foundation to take on a much larger role in ensuring leading-edge healthcare services and programs. We look to you, our donors, to help us to deliver next-generation healthcare to our families, neighbors and friends. We couldn't do it without you.
