More than 80 people traveled across the country, and as far away as Guatemala and Scotland, to attend the 5th Annual B Informed Patient Conference July 9-10 in Doylestown, PA, sponsored by the Hepatitis B Foundation (HBF) in partnership with the online Hepatitis B Support Listserv (HB-List).
The Keynote speaker was Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Jeffrey Marx who shared "Wendy's Story", a moving account of his sister's battle with hepatitis B and subsequent two liver transplants. Sessions on "HBV and Disability", "Everything You Wanted to Know" and "Evolving and Future HBV Treatments" rounded out the conference. In a surprise ceremony, members of the HB-List presented awards to Steve Bingham and Sheree Martin, co-owners of the HB-List, and Tim and Joan Block, HBF co-founders.
At the close of the weekend, attendees hugged and promised to be back next year! Clearly, the B Informed Patient Conference continues to be a valuable focus for the growing hepatitis B community of friends.
