Stanley Lemon, M.D., professor and director of the Center for Hepatitis Research at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, is one of the nation’s leading authorities on viral hepatitis.
Dr. Lemon gave the prestigious Bruce Witte Lecture to a packed audience (and live webcast) on April 10. His recent discovery of how the hepatitis C virus modulates the human innate immune system has become the definitive work in this field. HBF co-founders Paul and Janine Witte established this named lectureship in memory of Paul’s son who died at age 5. Each year the foundation invites an outstanding scientist studying hepatitis to present their research.
