A primary goal of the Hepatitis B Foundation’s outreach and advocacy program is to help build a strong and visible hepatitis B community of patients and families, researchers, and health care providers. To achieve this, we sponsor and coordinate meetings to promote the exchange of information at many different levels.
2006 Highlights
Management of Hepatitis B: 2006 – HBF was invited by the National Institutes of Health to co-sponsor this important workshop held in Bethesda, MD, on April 6-8, which attracted 400 clinical leaders from the U.S. and abroad.
6th Annual B Informed Patient Conference – HBF continues to sponsor the only national conference dedicated to hepatitis B that brings patients and families together with experts in the field to share their experiences and knowledge in a relaxed and supportive environment. This year, it was held at Stanford University in California on June 10-11.
21st International Meeting on Hepatitis B Viruses – HBF is the official coordinator of this prestigious conference that remains the definitive scientific meeting that covers all aspects of hepatitis B, and was held in Vancouver, Canada on September 17-20.
12th Annual Princeton Workshop – HBF hosted its research workshop in Princeton, NJ, on October 25-26, which continues to attract the acknowledged “thought leaders” from academe, government and industry. This year, the HBF partnered with the National Cancer Institute to review the most promising biomarkers for the early detection of primary liver cancer, of which 80% of cases are caused by hepatitis B. |
