For patients requiring extended inpatient rehabilitation due to illness or injury, support of family and friends is a vital part of the rehabilitation process.
PMMC's Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit (IRU) offers a high level of specialized care right in your community.
If you are recovering from a stroke, broken hip or other condition that has left you unable to fully care for yourself, doctors, nurses and physical, occupational and speech therapists in the IRU can help you return to activities at your most independent level.
Every one of PMMC's eight private rooms offers acute rehab services in a comfortable, friendly environment. The five-member therapy team, with nearly 75 years of combined experience, delivers excellent personalized treatment. Each day the team provides three hours of intensive therapy to each rehab patient. Then, the patient practices the exercises with members of PMMC's nursing staff. Most patients reach their maximum potential in a short time. Staff physiatrists (doctors who specialize in physical medicine and rehab) oversee the rehabilitation program and consult with physicians to provide a customized comprehensive care program.
