Pottstown Memorial Medical Center will soon offer imaging services for women in a newly renovated suite that blends high technology with soothing, spa-like aesthetics.

The new women's imaging suite features beautiful hardwood floors, soft lighting, calming music, comfortable seating and tranquil artwork. The goal, says Kathy McGonigal, breast care coordinator at PMMC, is to create a relaxing environment.

“Whether a woman is having a routine X-ray or a breast biopsy, she shouldn’t have to worry about wearing a hospital gown in the waiting room,” says Ms. McGonigal. “In addition, we now have plenty of space for private conversations and consultations.”

As the breast care coordinator, Ms. McGonigal follows patients throughout the course of their testing, treatments and beyond, and makes sure every question is answered before a woman leaves. The new imaging suite provides a comfortable, calming place for women to go when facing potentially stressful health issues.

“Pottstown Memorial has demonstrated a strong commitment to its breast cancer patients with this new imaging center,” says Edith Del Mar Behr, MD, a general surgeon at PMMC. “We can offer our patients the most advanced technology and the most personalized care.”

The new women’s imaging center is located in the Radiology Department of Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
