Give The Gift of Life: Become an Organ Donor

As the demand for organs continues to increase, the supply falls short. Help save lives by becoming an organ donor!

Organ and tissue donation proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that out of tragedy can come hope; out of death, new life. Just one donor has the potential to save and enhance up to 50 lives and take up to eight people off the transplant waiting list.

As the demand for organs continues to increase, the supply falls short. Every day, an average of 17 people whose lives could be saved by an organ transplant, die waiting. Although about 85% of the population supports organ donation, less than 30% have actually signed a donor card and discussed it with their family.

Pennsylvania residents can become organ donors in one of two ways: by indicating their wishes on their driver’s license or state ID or by signing up online at www.donatelife-pa.org. It is important to communicate your wishes concerning organ and tissue donation with your family, as most OPOs approach a family for consent even if there is a signed donor card.
