Blueberry and Peach Crisp

Blueberry Peach Crisp Desert, apple crisp

The combination of blueberries, peaches and walnuts makes this dessert great for the heart. Blueberries have one of the highest antioxidant capacities of any food, peaches add even more antioxidants. Walnuts offer heart healthy omega-3 fats. All of this in one tasty crisp!

This recipe is heart healthy. This recipe is diabetes friendly.

Yield: 6 servings

  • 4 medium peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh blueberries
  • 2 Tbsp packed brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp orange juice
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup Honey Nut ClustersŪ cereal, slightly crushed
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
  • Heat oven to 375°. Spray bottom and sides of square baking dish (8x8x2 inches) or rectangular baking dish (11x7x11/2 inches) with cooking spray.

    Place peaches and blueberries in baking dish. Mix brown sugar, orange juice, cinnamon and nutmeg in small bowl; drizzle over fruit.

    Bake for 15 minutes. Sprinkle with crushed cereal and walnuts. Bake 10 to 15 minutes longer or until peaches are tender when pierced with a fork. Serve warm or cold.
