Many products claim to smooth out frown lines, crow’s feet and other facial wrinkles, but few deliver the results of Botox® and Restylane®. Botox injections are the industry’s fastest-growing cosmetic procedure, according to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. They are the world’s most common treatment for facial lines and wrinkles around the eyes and forehead because they truly erase the tell-tale signs of aging. Botox is quick, safe and simple and can be combined with a filler such as Restylane or Juvederm to give the look of a full facial makeover to truly roll the years back. The really magical thing about Botox is that the more you use it (over time!) the better it gets, because it has a preventative effect.

The injections work by paralyzing specific facial muscles, usually frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. By weakening the muscles that cause the lines, they relax more, allowing the skin to smooth out and provide a more youthful look. Botox can also prevent you from making the facial expressions that form wrinkles in later years.

Botox treatments usually take about 10 minutes. You can even get Botox on your lunch break, since the injections require no recovery time. Botox is described as relatively painless with no anesthesia necessary, although we can provide one if you prefer. You will start to see the effects of Botox within 2 to 5 days but results vary from individual to individual. The greatest effect, however, is seen after about 2 weeks. Side effects are rare but can include slight bruising at the injection sites, slight headache and sometimes a slight drooping of the eyelid that only lasts about a week. Because the effects of Botox are completely reversible, side effects are temporary.

During the first 4 hours after treatment, we advise you to avoid vigorous exercise, rubbing your eyes, and drinking excessive amounts of alcohol. Otherwise you can carry on as normal. In most cases you can expect excellent results for three months with a gradually diminishing effect over the following 3 months. Regular treatment ‘trains’ the muscles not to move as much so that, over time, less treatment is needed to keep the facial muscles relaxed. On average most people like to come back about every 4 to 5 months when they first start their injections. People who have large facial muscles (like men) or who have very ‘expressive’ faces may require more frequent treatment. The majority of individuals require less and less treatment as their muscles are retrained.

Restylane is the world’s most-used cosmetic filler, and it is often used in combination with Botox. Restylane is a gel known as a sub-dermal filler. It is identical to your body’s own natural hyaluronic acid, which means that it is completely natural and safe. It binds water in your skin, lost through age and too much sun worship, to lift, provide new firmness and lasting volume. This volume can be used to plump lips and smooth wrinkles and folds. It’s especially popular for nasolabial folds – the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth.

Restylane injections have been used in more than 1.4 million treatments, and its use is considered one of the safest cosmetic procedures on the market. Restylane is not produced from or tested on animals. Treatments usually take about 15 to 30 minutes, and require little to no recovery time. You may experience some redness, bruising and swelling, though cold compresses can reduce the effect. Results are immediate, and last about 6 months with Restylane.
