The Lung Cancer Team

A team of specialists in cancer treatment discuss every patient and develop a coordinated treatment plan at St. Francis Regional Cancer Center

From the moment lung cancer is diagnosed, or even suspected, life becomes a series of tests, doctors’ appointments and decisions. It’s hard to imagine anything more overwhelming.

To help streamline the process and optimize care, St. Francis Regional Cancer Center has established a comprehensive lung care team. This means fewer appointments for the patient and enhanced communication among physicians. The team includes:

Medical Oncologists: Elizabeth Rosvold, MD, Nenita McIntosh, MD, Bernard Grossman, MD, Scott Kindsfather, MD, Abdul Mughal, MD, and David Schaebler, MD, oversee the overall treatment plan and the administration of medications such as chemotherapy. They help stage the cancer and discuss treatment options with patients.

Pulmonologists: Marc Seelagy, MD, and Joseph Steeger, MD, perform lung cancer screenings, determine diagnoses and evaluate patients for potential surgeries.

Thoracic Surgeon: Joseph Costic, DO, evaluates patients and performs biopsies and/or surgeries to remove lung tumors.

Radiation Oncologists: Jo Ann Chalal, MD, and Sangeeta Tyerech, MD, oversee the care of patients receiving radiation therapy, including the planning and delivery of treatments.

Lung Nurse Coordinator: Anne-Marie Williams, RN, helps patients to navigate the healthcare system and manage the process by tracking their tests and treatments.

“The lung team meets regularly to discuss every patient and develop a coordinated treatment plan,” explains Ms. Williams.
