Want to Impress the Grandkids? Play Video Games

Residents can now play tennis or golf, go bowling or try boxing, all without leaving the St. Mary’s lobby. It’s all thanks to the recent purchase of a Nintendo Wii (pronounced “wee”) video game console.

Unlike traditional game systems, the Wii responds to the physical gestures of the player. To “bowl,” for example, a player holds a control and makes the motion of rolling a ball down the alley. The result is displayed on a television screen.

According to Elaine Bruhn, activities coordinator at St. Mary’s, the games give residents some gentle exercise and help improve eye-hand coordination. And, of course, they are a lot of fun!

It’s just one of the dozens of activities at St. Mary’s. Visit our website at www.morrishall.org for more listings. Click on Publications to read other articles on activities.
